Psychiatric nurse practitioner Joann Gruber works as part of La Clinica’s behavioral health and medical teams to serve patients with psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Gruber sees patients at the Phoenix
, West Main
, and Central Point
health centers. She joined La Clinica in 2011.
Dr. Gruber came to Oregon from Florida, where she maintained a private practice. She previously worked in jails, foster care programs, nursing homes, and hospital-based psychiatric units and community mental health centers.
She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Dr. Gruber earned her clinical doctorate in nursing practice from Case Western Reserve School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio, a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from Florida Atlantic University, and a post-master’s certificate as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist from the State University of New York in Stony Brook.
Dr. Gruber is studying for an additional master’s degree in metabolic and nutritional medicine from the University of South Florida, and a fellowship in functional and regenerative medicine from the American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine.
In her doctoral work she explored access- to-care barriers experienced by parents seeking mental health care for their children in rural central Florida.
She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and as a family nurse practitioner.
She enjoys learning, reading, biking, walking, tennis, and cross-country skiing.
